The idea for my first children’s book “You’re From WHERE,
Grandma?” came to me when Lauren, our first grandchild, excitedly told
the mailman one day, “Did you know my Grandma was born in AFRICA?” Thank
you Lauren. By the time I was done with this book, I was hooked on the
creative process of writing.

My second and third books are also based in southern
Africa, about  a tiny bush baby (a very small monkey) named Kiki. In
South Africa they’re called nagapie (Afrikaans.)  I continued the theme
with a sequel, where Kiki gets a younger brother named Obi who joins in
the mischief.

I was born in Francistown, Botswana, and lived there, and
later in Zambia and Zimbabwe until the age of 20. Since then I have
lived in London England, Ottawa, Montreal, Mexico City, and Northern
California. In 2005, my husband Joe Muchowski and I returned to Canada
where we now live in West Kelowna in the beautiful Okanagan Valley,
British Columbia.

In another life I did a different kind of writing: computer manuals.
When we lived in Silicon Valley in Northern California, I worked as a
Technical Writer at Hewlett Packard and other computer companies. Who
knew technical writing would sew the seed for creative writing.

When I’m not writing I enjoy yoga, bridge, tennis and golf. I’m in
awe of the accomplishments of my amazing family of three children and
eight grandchildren who live in California, and who provide valuable
feedback for my stories.
